Join our Winter Operations Team! Our Winter Drivers and Heavy Equipment Operators have an incredibly important job as part of a team ensuring public safety and accessibility throughout the winter season in the City of Markham.

Winter Drivers and Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for working independently or as a team under direct supervision of Site Supervisors. Responsible for the de-icing and clearing of snow as per municipal contract specifications; in an efficient manner, with a strong focus on safety, excellent customer service, and quality workmanship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Snow Removal service for City of Markham
• Must be available for on-call during the winter season 24/7 (November 2024 to April 2025).
• Work closely with Site Supervisor and Crew in the de-icing and removal of snow according to the specified contracts.
• Proficiently and safely use snow removal equipment.
• Daily Equipment Safety Check and ensuring all Equipment complies with safety precautions
• Maintain a clean and safe jobsite, while ensuring property is not damaged in the efforts of removing snow.
• Maintain care of company provided equipment, tools and vehicles
• Work as a part of a team and take direction.
• Participate in all mandatory trainings
• Follow the Company’s rules, policies, procedures and regulations.
• Report all incidents to Site Supervisor

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

• Willing/able to be on call 24/7
• Reliable, trustworthy and able to work varying hours, days, nights, holidays and weekends as needed
• Ability to work safely and efficiently
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions

 SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS PLOW DRIVERS

• Must hold a valid DZ (or AZ) license, with an acceptable driver’s abstract and CVOR record (which will be reviewed prior to offering employment).
• Previous plow experience is an asset.
• Previous truck driving experience is required.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS EQUIPMENT OPERATORS (WINDROW)

• Previous experience with operating heavy equipment is an asset
• Valid G license

COMPENSATION

These positions include a weekly on-call rate, as well as an hourly rate for the time spent plowing.
